Custom Egg Grading
Interested in selling your fresh, free-range eggs to your local retail store? It is required by law that eggs are graded at a Federal Egg Grading Station in order to be sold to a retail location, bakery, restaurant, or any third party sales place. The only time eggs are allowed to be sold un-graded is straight from the producer to the direct consumer either through farm-gate sales or farmers markets within Nova Scotia.
How do I know if eggs are graded?
Look for the symbol shown below on the egg carton, a relevant best before date, and the name and location of where the eggs were produced.
Pick-up or Delivery of Ungraded Eggs
We offer two options, depending on your location:
Producers can bring their fresh unwashed eggs to us here on the farm, or;
We can pick them up or meet at a convenient location weekly.
Our team will carefully put your eggs through our machine and pack them as per your specifications. You can provide your own label, or we can create a simple one for you. There are specific regulations we must follow when it comes to packaging and labelling.
Pick-up or Delivery of Graded Eggs
Again, we offer two options, depending on your location:
Producers can pick-up their graded eggs from us here on the farm, or;
We can bring them back to you or meet at a convenient location weekly.
Invoicing, Grading Report, and Payment
Producers will receive an invoice for the exact number of eggs graded as well as a detailed grading report showing you how many eggs were in each size category and how many were cracked. Payment is convenient - we accept cash, cheque, or etransfer.
